Finding a Place to Camp
There are two places to camp in Acadia National Park that we have personal knowledge of. One area requires advanced reservations (1-800-365-2267), and it fills very fast - about six months before you actually visit the park. The other area is first-come-first serve. This works out well if you can get to the area early in the day, but for late arrivals, you may be disappointed to find that the campground is full.
We were unable to get reservations for the park on our trip to the area, so we called other camp grounds in the area to see if any would take a reservation. In our search we found Hadley's Point Campground and were able to make reservations. At the time, they required a check to be sent in advance unless it is the last minute. Our experience with this family owned business was very pleasant. They accept people who show up without reservations if there is room available.
